Marisa is a Santa Cruz 40 based in Minneapolis. She sails on Lake Superior and is often found in Superior, Wisconsin. Previously named Red Hawk, and before that Mimi B, Marisa competed in the 1983 Transpac. Now, she is returning to the West Coast for another run to Hawaii. While most of the crew are competing in their second Pacific Cup, this will be everyone's first passage to Hawaii aboard Marisa.

Qualifying Sail Details

On May 29, 2026 7:30 PM to May 30 2026 the entire Pac Cup crew sailed on Lake Superior for a training session. Total miles logged under sail was 145.8, distance under motor was 7 miles, total just over 150 nm. Departure from dock was at 7:30 PM. The entire trip was over 21 hours. Wind conditions varied from light and variable to 34 knots sustained. We sailed under various points of sail to get data for routing polars in a wide variety of sea states.
